DESCRIPTION

Maxwell Martinez

I’m in love with a woman I can’t have, and there’s absolutely nothing I can do to stop myself from falling.
The problem? Her brother’s my best friend.

I shouldn’t want her this much. Not when it goes against the bro code. Not when I’ve never been able to commit to a woman for longer than a night.

But one look into her eyes and I’m a mess for her. She’s my everything. And I have to walk away with nothing.

REVIEW:

**Note: I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

After reading Van Fleet’s first book in the Reckless Hearts series, I was immediately drawn to Max. I’ve been waiting impatiently since I finished reading about Colly and Addie to know what would happen with Max and Lia, and I did not wait in vain. Van Fleet does such an amazing job writing her characters in a way that you are not only able to understand who each of them are, but in a way that allows you to relate to and connect with them. (Side note: Though I was invested in Max and Lia before I finished the first book, I can just about guarantee you will be as invested by the end of the first chapters, even if you never read the first book, but I highly recommend it anyway).

The Right Kind of Reckless is a sweet and steamy brothers-best-friend and friends-to-lovers romance, but it comes with so much more. My favorite part of Van Fleet’s books are her characters and how dimensional and dynamic they each are. In this book, the main characters, Max and Lia are both strong, but they’ve had to go through a crap-ton to get them there, and they’re still growing throughout this story. When I’m reading a romance, I want to be rooting for both characters, I want to love them each equally and I want the moment they finally get together to not just be a victory for them, but for me as well, and Van Fleet gives you that and then some in this book.

But Van Fleet doesn’t just master her main characters, she makes you fall for the important people in their lives as well, which brings you into their world in a way that makes you wonder where the book ends and your real life begins.

And there are no cookie-cutter characters here. You’re not going to find Lia or Max (or any of the other characters in this series) in any other book, from the way they look, to who they are at their core, which means they’re like real people you know, and by the end you’ll feel like they’re your real friends. You’ll miss seeing them in the bar and when the whole gang gets together, but you’ll feel warm and fuzzy inside because your friends are happy, and that’s all you ever really wanted for them.

Like the first book in this series, I could not put this one down. I read it in a day, and when I finally finished it was past 3:00am – because I just couldn’t stop reading. And of course, because Van Fleet writes her characters so well (have I mentioned how well she does this?), I will now be impatiently waiting (again) to see what happens with Gavin, because I want so much for him and I am dying to know how he’ll get it all!

If you enjoy sweet and sexy stories, with characters you’ll fall in love with, The Right Kind of Reckless will go above and beyond for you. I highly recommend not only this book, but the whole Reckless Hearts series!
